Generally speaking, the Lord Farquaad Markiplier E meme is a fried up jpeg of the youtuber Markiplier photoshopped onto the face of Lord Farquaad (Shrek) with the letter E laid on top.
It spread because of a meme originating in April under the category “Memes Then, Memes Now”. This alludes to the winding dynamic of meme culture where inside jokes become so inside, that the fact that they simply make no sense in any context whatsoever BECOMES the meme itself.
At that point, it was photoshopped onto Mark Zuckerberg’s body during his congressional interrogation.
Following that, the media couldn’t figure out what the hell that meme meant or what it was referring to. Articles poppedup questioning the alleged “weird” humor of Millennials.
This is one of the only memes that became a meme for the sake of being a meme.
